What Is The Speed Of Light ?

Our son wants to grow faster than we want him to grow. This is actually a interesting point. It carries physiological and physical aspects.

The physiological aspect is that I’m enjoying him and his age. I don’t want him to grow up as I feel I’m missing something. I want to experience every single thing. Not only that, I feel I love him (his age) so much, I’ve talked to Mama about a sister for him, which resulted in… well… ever heard of “If eyes could kill”, well lets just say that Mama gave me the evilest (hey I just created a new word) stare-down I’ve ever seen in my life. I believe this means she has enough with 1 baby at this point in time.

The physical aspect is that our son is developing way to fast. Example: He loves to stand up, while we hold him. Not only that, the other day I handed him over to Mama, and when I leaned him forward he took a step. I got quite surprised and tried leaning him forward and walking with him and he started to take small steps. 1 small step for Junior and 1 big step for … eh back to the story. So there he was, walking his first few steps. I’m not sure if it is his instinct to step forward when leaning forward, or if he’s just developing fast.

What’s that all about ? Dude, you need to learn how to sit first before you can walk. I mean, according to the baby handbook, you need to sit first (by yourself), then crawl, then walk with support and then walk by your self.

No skipping development steps, bad baby !

Great post! Our son is a few days a way from six months, and for me, it’s a constant conflict between missing the early weeks and months and enjoying the present. At the same time, I sometimes find myself looking forward to the days when he can walk and talk.

Our son does the standing thing too, and he’s almost able to sit up on his own. He made it about five seconds today before he toppled over. I sometimes think he might skip crawling altogether, based on his current leg strength.

Thanks for writing about your experiences. It’s great to be able to compare notes with other new parents.
