Starting With Solid Food
Our son is now 4½ months old, so today we decided that we should start with “solid” food and slowly phase out breast milk.
We took a small potato, boiled it, mashed it, and mixed with some breast milk to make thick a “liquidy” potato mash. In total there was around 2 teaspoons.
I personally was in charge of providing this source of energy to my son. And I must say, it was quite interesting to see the faces he made. He did cough 2-3 times while trying to “drink” it, as he is only used to drinking breast milk. Additionally he would try to lick the spoon like a dog licks water out of a bowl, so I tried turning the spoon upside down so he could lick it off the spoon. But that resulted in more food for the bib than the baby.
Additionally we (Papa & Mama) found out, that we need to get some rubber spoons as metal spoon seemed a bit rough while he’s learning to eat.
So in the month or so, we will be trying different types of mashed food and of course continue with breast milk. In time he will get less milk and more food.
