Sleep Deprivation Can Kill You !
That’s right. Lack of sleep can kill you.
I’ve always been bad at sleeping. It takes me minimum an hour to fall asleep, and when I do, I wake up every 2-3 hours. So it’s easy to say that my sleep quality is really bad.
On really bad nights, I would be very tired and a long car trip back from work would make me sleepy to the point, where I would have to pull over, step out and get some fresh air.
Fast forward a bit to present and it has gone worse, much worse. Now I only get 4-5 hours a sleep due to my son needing one of the following every 1 hour 30 minutes and 45 seconds:
- Food
- Nappy change
- Food
- Nappy change
- Food
- I wonder if forgot anything…
Both the food and the nappy change are done by Mama during the working days, while I take over during the weekend. But his crying is enough for me to wake up and, as mentioned earlier, it takes me a long time to fall back to sleep.
In these days, I’m feeling sleepy while GOING to work. Before, it was after a long day RETURNING from work. It’s so bad that I’m really worried that I’ll either kill myself or others.
I’ve never been able to sleep during the day, but I’m considering trying, as I definitely need some good quality sleep.
So fellow fathers, any good tips ?
*Looks at the watch, hmm 23:48, maybe I should go to sleep*

Good tips? Hmmm… Stick in there it will get better!
My son is 6 months old now. Luckily he started sleeping though the night at about 3 months, but before that it was exactly as you decribed. I would eat a quick lunch at work and take a nap in the car for the remainder of my lunch hour.
Basically every chance I got to shut my eyes, I would.
On the weekend I always tried to catch up on my sleep by sleeping when he slept. I needed to get the good rest during the weekend to make it through the week.
Other than that just keep yourself healthy. I had a tendency to skip meals in favor of sleep. This did nothing but make me more exhausted.
