Mama, Papa & Junior went to Disney Land and Papa stressed

Ok maybe not Disney Land, but we did travel to another country to visit Mama’s family. So how was that ? Read on…

Our son (and babies in general) are used to a fix environment, routine and schedule. Mess that up and you should expect disturbance in the force (any Star Wars fan out there ?).

So we were expecting problems, and we got problems. We visited loads of family members and each and everyone wanted to hold our son. Now that’s not actually a problem, as our son is a very friendly type of person and will smile at everyone and be held by anyone. But it did further manifest the bad habit of “He needs attention” (see Bad Habits).

Additionally the new houses, the new faces and the new events (loads of people gathered) made it harder for him to sleep (again see Bad Habits) so he got minimal sleep during the day. All this of course disturbed his sleeping patterns and thus he would also have problems sleeping at night. And finally, what do babies do when they don’t sleep and get tired ? They cry ! So he’s been crying a lot when close to his sleeping time.
One good thing about his sleep is that he loves sleeping in the car. As soon as the car starts driving he will nod off. So because we were traveling a lot in cars he would get some good sleep once in a while.

So in conclusion, he slept less than usual, cried more than usual, and stressed Mama more than usual.

And as new/old Papas out there will know, when babies stress, Mamas stress, and when Mamas stress they de-stress out on Papa. So now the baby is stress free, Mama is stress free and Papa is stressed. And when Papa is stressed… well I haven’t figured this out yet.

I just walk around pissed. When I figure out the answer I’ll post it here.
