Junior, You Are Talking Jibberish
Our son is now 16 months old and he is a genius. Well we think he is a genius because at the age of 16 months he has created his own language.
And he speaks it fluently. He can construct several sentences and pronounce them to perfection. And the only thing Mama and Papa can do is look at junior and then look at each other trying to figure out what he just said.
Now I’ve been googling and giggling the entire Internet to find a dictionary of the words junior uses, but so far I have found none. Mama doesn’t understand junior, Papa doesn’t understand junior, the nurses at the nursery don’t understand junior, then who does?
So far Mama and Papa (with our limited intellectual capabilities) we have managed to decipher the following:
- Aloo – I love you
- Money – I’m thirsty and want water
- Mam mam – I’m hungry and want food
- Eh (while nodding once) – Yes
- Eh eh (while shaking his head) – No
- Eh eh (while pointing) – I want that
- No no (while waving his finger at us) – Don’t do that (he learned that from Mama)
So now the dilemma is, either Mama & Papa learn this new language, or junior learns English. Which will it be? David or Goliath ? PC or Mac ? Obama or Clinton ? Only time will tell.
Jokes aside, this is positive sign of good development. Junior is trying to talk like us, trying to pronounce the words we say, and has a good understanding of what we say.
